Fundraising and Volunteer Bonds

Each skating family is required to volunteer and fundraise in order for us to run a successful skating program. The volunteer bond is charged per family, and the expectation is you will volunteer for at least 2 hours if your oldest skater is CanSkate or Pre-Junior level and at least 4 hours if your skater is Junior or Senior.

The fundraising bond is charged per skater (maximum of three bonds charged per family). There will be several fundraising opportunities throughout the year to reduce your bond. The club will keep track of the value of fundraising you have raised. At the end of the season, your bond will be reimbursed in full if you have met or surpassed the bond amount, or partially refunded for lesser amounts.

Our goals are to run a successful skating season, engage with the community in a positive way, and provide opportunities for our skaters to develop and grow. We hope to have lots of volunteers involved in the club and be able to return all the bond money back to our families at the end of the season.

Additional Registration and Payment Information

An instalment payment option is available to spread out payment throughout the season. If you are interested in this option, in the Invoice Summary section, change the payment option from "Pay in Full" to "Pay by Instalments"

Full refunds are available up to program start date, and pro-rated refunds are available until October 31. The mandatory Skate Canada fee is non-refundable.

Program Assistants

Program assistants (PAs) are an integral part of the success of our CanSkate programs. We welcome current skaters,  hockey players, and any other proficient skaters age 10 and older. Acting as a Program Assistant is a great opportunity for the development of leadership skills, and an understanding of the value of giving back to your community. Please contact lucanskatingclub@gmail.com if you have a skater interested in volunteering.
