About Lucan Skating Club
The Lucan Skating Club is a Skate Canada sanctioned skating club, governed by the rules and regulations of the Skate Canada organization. We are a not-for-profit organization that operates with a group of volunteers. Every year, the Club holds an Annual General Meeting of the members where we elect a group of members to serve as the Board of Directors. These Directors donate their personal time to run the Club for the benefit of all members and skaters. They are responsible for renting ice, programming the skating sessions, hiring coaches, and managing relations with the Township of Lucan Biddulph, Skate Canada, and other organizations.
If you are interested in being involved on the Board of Directors, please express your interest to a current member. A list of members can be found under About LSC - Our Staff.
Coaching is led by professional coaches trained and certified through Skate Canada's NCCP program, and volunteer Program Assistants that are committed to teaching skating and life skills on and off the ice. We offer a variety of Skate Canada programs for all ages, levels, and styles of skating to help build your skaters' abilities and skills.
Lucan Skating Club was established in the early 1980's by Carol and Alma Moir. They were joined shortly after by their sister Marg Carey. Carol and Alma moved on to begin a new skating club in Ilderton, while Marg continued with Lucan before officially retiring in March 2018. Lucan Skating Club is proud to serve the community of Lucan and surrounding area by teaching skating to those interested in figure skating, hockey, ringette, and synchronized skating.
